AbGenomics focuses primarily on the discovery and development of therapeutic antibodies for immune-related inflammatory diseases and cancers.  

The progression of inflammatory diseases, such as autoimmune diseases, allergy, and asthma, arise mainly from aberrant regulation of T cells.  Several inflammatory diseases are currently controlled by systemic immunosuppressive or anti-TNF-a therapeutics which require life-long treatment and are associated with adverse effects.

Cancer has been the leading cause for mortality. The mainstream treatments for cancer are chemotherapies with small molecules that inhibit the proliferation of cancer as well as normal cells.  In contrast, antibody drugs, such as Rituxan (anti-CD20) for Non-Hodgking's B cell lymphoma, Herceptin (anti-HER-2) for breast cancer, and Avastin for colorectal cancer, have been well accepted due to its high specificity and limited side effects.  

Our research goal aims to develop novel therapeutic antibodies targeting against disease-causing T cells or cancer cells directly without causing unwanted adverse effect.
